What is marble?

Marble is formed from limestone or dolomite under high temperature and high pressure. It has a Mohs hardness of 3 - 4. It is easy to process but also relatively brittle. It is mainly composed of calcite and contains impurities such as calcium carbonate, clay, and iron oxide. According to color and characteristics, it can be divided into white marble, black marble, colored marble, etc. The traditional application forms of marble have limitations. If processed into powder, it can meet the diverse needs of modern industry and play an important role in industries such as building materials, coatings, plastics, and papermaking.

Application of Raymond Mill in Processing Marble

Raymond mill can process marble powder with a fineness of 80 - 400 mesh, meeting the needs of many industries. In the building materials industry, coarse powder with a fineness of 80 - 200 mesh can be used as fillers for artificial stone and tile adhesives. In the coating and plastic industries, fine powder with a fineness of 200 - 400 mesh is used as a whitening agent to enhance color and texture. In the paper industry, it is used for paper coating to make the paper surface smoother.

The process of processing marble with Raymond mill

Raw material pretreatment: In the coarse crushing stage, a jaw crusher is used to crush marble ore into particles with a particle size not exceeding 30mm. After coarse crushing, a vibrating screen is used for screening to remove impurities such as soil and iron filings. If the moisture content of the raw material exceeds 3%, it is dried in a rotary dryer, and the temperature is controlled between 100 - 150℃.

Powder grinding stage: The elevator conveys the crushed marble materials to the grinding chamber of the Raymond mill main unit. The grinding roller grinds the materials under the action of centrifugal force. The classifier precisely selects the fine powder. The qualified fine powder enters the cyclone collector for separation, and the tail gas is purified by a pulse dust collector.

Finished product collection: The powder is conveyed to the finished product silo for storage through a screw conveyor. Modifiers such as stearic acid are added according to requirements. Finally, it is packaged into different specifications by an automatic packaging machine. Common specifications include 25 - 50kg/bag and ton bag packaging.

Key parameters for processing marble with Raymond mill

Crusher: The power ranges from 30 to 110kW, and the production capacity is 5 - 500t/h, which is used for coarse crushing.

Grinding roller: The number of grinding rollers of the Raymond mill main machine is 3 - 6, and the power is 18 - 250kW. It is the core equipment.

Cyclone collector: The diameter ranges from 0.5 to 3m, and the pressure loss is 800 - 1500Pa. It is used to separate the air flow from the finished powder.

Fineness adjustment: The fineness is adjusted by adjusting the rotational speed of the classifier or the air volume of the fan. Producing finer powder can be achieved by increasing the rotational speed or reducing the air volume. The production capacity of a single Raymond mill for processing marble powder (325 mesh) is approximately 1 - 15t/h, which is affected by the model and the hardness of the raw materials.
