What is high-grade nickel matte?

High-grade nickel matte is mainly composed of nickel sulfide (Ni₃S₂) with a nickel content of 70% - 80%. It also contains impurities such as copper sulfide, a small amount of cobalt, iron, and platinum group elements. It appears as irregular blocks of dark gray or metallic gray, with a metallic luster, and is brittle and easy to break.

Coarse crushing

After being produced by the high-grade nickel matte converter, it is in block form with high hardness and strong wear resistance. First, use a jaw crusher (which crushes materials by the relative movement of the moving and fixed jaws through extrusion, splitting, and bending) or a cone crusher (which crushes materials by the extrusion of the movement between the mortar wall and the crushing wall) to crush it to less than 30 - 50mm.

Intermediate storage, transportation and feeding

The crushed materials are sent to the intermediate storage bin by a bucket elevator, and the electromagnetic vibrating feeder or belt scale feeds evenly and stably to ensure the stable operation of the Raymond mill.

Grinding

The materials enter between the grinding roller and the grinding ring of the main machine of the Raymond mill, and the grinding roller crushes the materials under the action of centrifugal force. Due to the characteristics of high-grade nickel matte, the grinding roller and grinding ring need to be made of ultra-high wear-resistant materials such as high chromium alloy and hard alloy.

Classification

The crushed powder is sent to the analyzer by the air flow of the fan. Under the high-speed rotation of the rotor, it is affected by both centrifugal force and the centripetal force of the air flow. Particles with large particle size are thrown to the outer wall and fall back to the grinding area; the fine powder with qualified particle size enters the collection system through the gap between the blades along with the air flow. The particle size of the output powder can be controlled by adjusting the rotation speed of the analyzer.

Collection and dust removal

The fine powder enters the cyclone collector along with the air flow, and is separated by centrifugal force, and most of the products are collected here. The remaining trace ultra-fine powder is captured by the pulse bag filter, and the clean gas is discharged, making the process efficient and environmentally friendly.

Extremely wear-resistant design

High-grade nickel matte has high Mohs hardness and causes serious wear. Vulnerable parts need to be made of special wear-resistant alloy steel (such as Ni - Hard) or ceramic materials, and their thickness should be increased to prolong service life and reduce production costs.

Anti-oxidation and explosion-proof

High-grade nickel matte powder is flammable, and grinding may cause explosion or oxidation. High-end or large-scale production lines use inert gases such as nitrogen instead of air. The equipment is equipped with explosion-proof pressure relief ports, motors and electrical appliances are of explosion-proof type, and the system is well grounded.

System tightness

High-grade nickel matte powder is of high value, so the pipeline, main machine and collection system need to be tightly sealed. Sealing gaskets, sealants and other materials are used, and the seals are inspected and replaced regularly.

Dust removal and environmental protection

High-grade nickel matte powder is an industrial dust, so an efficient dust removal system must be equipped, and the collection efficiency of the pulse bag filter can reach more than 99.9%. It is necessary to select the type according to the production scale and dust characteristics, and carry out regular maintenance.
