Application of Raymond Mill in Processing Bentonite

The Raymond mill is a key device for processing bentonite. The grinding fineness ranges from 80 - 400 mesh, and some improved models can reach over 600 mesh, which can meet the needs of different industries for bentonite.

80 - 200 mesh: Used for casting sand molds and iron ore pellets.

Process of Raymond Mill Processing Bentonite

Raw material pretreatment: The particle size of the raw ore needs to be crushed to ≤30mm. Commonly used crushers are jaw crushers or hammer crushers. If the moisture content is >10%, it is easy to block the equipment, and it can be dried naturally or by a dryer.

Grinding process: The main machine, classifier, cyclone collector, and bag dust collector work together. Inside the main machine, the grinding roller rolls the bentonite. The grinding roller and grinding ring are made of high - manganese steel or wear - resistant alloy materials. The classifier controls the fineness, and the operator can adjust the rotation speed. Optional modification process: After grinding, modification equipment can be connected in series. To produce organic bentonite, organic substances such as quaternary ammonium salts are added for organic modification, which is used in fields such as paints and inks. Adhesion problem: Bentonite has strong water absorption and is easy to adhere to equipment components, resulting in poor material flow and equipment blockage. The moisture content of the incoming material can be controlled to <8%, the grinding chamber can be heated (temperature ≤60℃), and the inner wall of the mill can be cleaned regularly.

Fineness control: Sodium - based bentonite is easier to grind fine than calcium - based bentonite. The rotation speed of the classifier can be adjusted dynamically. For the production of super - fine powder (>600 mesh), it is recommended to adopt a two - stage crushing process of "Raymond mill + air - flow mill".

Impact of impurities: Impurities such as quartz sand accelerate the wear of the grinding roller. Screening or magnetic separation can be carried out in advance to remove impurities.
